Iona

Early morning rise to catch the ferry to Mull. Loads of single track roads, waterfalls, stunning views, mountains...I would LOVE to have a blip of any one of these, but it rained - slanty Scottish rain - ALL day !

In fact, I could have called this blip '50 shades of Grey' but that would have injected too much colour into the blip. It was strangely beautiful in the dampness...until you had to leave a warm car and get the little Iona ferry.

The Abbey is stunning. A profoundly peaceful place, I felt very moved by it's peacefulness. In fact I wanted to stay for the week - but that may be because I was too scared to go back out in the weather again !

No 1 found a tiny cell, up a steep set of stone stair. It had a celtic inscription on a tiny door saying 'Stand Fast' and inside was this little chair. It looked out over the stone cross at the front door. I don't think the blip shows it to it's best advantage - but here it is anyway.

We also managed to drive to the opposite side of the Island (49 miles) to show Tobermory to No 3 (always a fan of Balamory).

Another beautiful place but very wet. However we managed to find a pub with great food frequented by the boaty sect. I have NEVER seen two teenagers eat so much ! It was impressive.

Home to pack up. Happy tired. Hope I get the chance to return one day.
