Santiago De Compostela

The cathedral of Santiago De Compostela is the arrival point for many pilgrims as they trudge their way the along various routes of the Camino de Santiago. We arrived by car although we may have been just as well walking given the KIA's inability to move at a steady pace. Mind you I'm not taking it to a mechanic just yet. I want it to suffer all through our long journey. I want it to suffer more than the weary pilgrims with their walking sticks, pack-a-macs and clam shells attached to their rucksacks. My advice. Never, EVER buy a KIA. I once wrote an angry blog about KIA and sent it to them. They ignored it just like they ignored the lawyer's letter and mountain of dealership visits to have it never get repaired. I digress. When we arrived in Santiago de Compostela the rain was torrential and after a quick view of the cathedral-not very impressive in my opinion-we made our very own pilgrimage to Abastos 2.0 which is a very trendy tapas bar and restaurant (pictured) situated beside the market. We ate razor fish in lime pickle, bluefish with wasabi, tuna soaked in lime juice, cockles in seaweed with chilli slices and hake in an olive sauce all washed down with some local wine.

Still feeling peckish back at the hotel I decided to eat the last of the manchego cheese and bread we had bought. Not having brought my swiss army knife up from the car I had to improvise. Let me tell you something. A hotel bathroom plastic comb cuts and shreds through room temperature cheese like a...well, like a plastic comb. I call it the "Cheese Comb" and it's my invention which I am now giving notice of via blip.
