Never smile at a crocodile
Up close and personal to an estuarine croc, a "saltie", on a boat trip on the Mary River, on the first day of our wonderful "safari" in Kakadu national park. The pale colour of this one indicates it has spent a lot of time in salt water.
It was a privilege to be able to see these incredible creatures in the wild, as they should be; though I've seen them in zoos, the reality of these huge armoured links to the dinosaurs is extraordinary. How on earth anyone can want shoes or a handbag made from one of these creatures?
