room with a view
when i woke up i noticed out of a distant window that the grass was covered with snow. and i found this confusing. i thought: the snow melted last week, i wonder why that snow didnt melt. then i walked back to my room with my cup of coffee, sat down at my desk, and saw that the snow was quietly falling outside.
i reveled in the beauty of it. ryan told me to take a photo because he couldnt see it.
i tried.
it certainly doesnt capture the beauty of snow falling slowing and assuredly to the ground. but it is an aesthetically pleasing photo to me nonetheless.
i have been exhausted all day today. it was very taxing to read. my brain hurts. im currently reading about international human rights and german novelists. in the same book. if i read carefully it takes me hours and hours to make it through a chapter. if i read at a reasonable pace i cant follow the complexities of the argument. sigh.
i went to the archives today and read letters from graham greene about ts eliot and evelyn waugh. greene loved/admired waugh and decidedly did not like eliot. i find this hilarious. greene said he found eliot "a rather aloof character." baha.
tonight someone allowed me to step up on my soap box about ts eliot. i consequently made 4 people i barely know listen to me recite portions of eliot's "four quartets." i also exhorted them all to read the poem at least 8 times before next wednesday. seriously. these folks probably do not want me to return to their weekly meeting. ha. although we did have a philosophical discussion, which these days makes my heart race.
