Tuesday challenge - textures
These feathers are from the parrot that lives in our house. It is an Amazon Blue Front. These parrots are long lived in captivity, this one is around 50 years already.
During the Victorian era many birds feathers were used to add texture to hats, so much so that some birds were hunted almost to extinction. Milliners still use feathers in hats today - there will be many examples in such events as a day at the races or at weddings.
