Chenonceau

We visited Chenonceau today. The weather was sunny, as shown by the squints in this photo, for approximately an hour. The rest of the time it rained, hard, or was cloudy. We were exceedingly lucky with the rain being inside either the chateau or the restaurant when it came down.

It is a beautiful chateau but it doesn't beat Chambord from last year in my or Carys's eyes. Chambord had such big open spaces that it didn't feel crowded even when it was and the grounds were free to enter so we spent a lot of time there on our bikes. Chenonceau would probably been better if the weather had been better as even the woodland walks were a matter of avoiding huge muddy puddles.

Hoping for better weather tomorrow as we are planning to stay in the garden and pool.
