A ray of sunshine in the rain

I was ill today and so I stayed in bed most of the day (rather than spreading my germs around work). I eventually got up and went downstairs where it was freezing cold due to all the windows being left open overnight.
I looked out of the kitchen window and saw the grey sky and rain. It was all looking pretty grim until I noticed this happy little sunflower bobbing about in the breeze. When the rain reduced to just a light drizzle, I popped outside to catch a photo of the sunflower. I know its probably not the best specimen of a sunflower in the world but it really cheered me up looking so bright against the grey sky and brick yard. I am still playing with the colour filters on my camera so chose to highlight the yellow petals and keep the background monochrome to match the grey weather.
Hopefully the weather (& I) will be brighter by the weekend as I was looking forward to going to a BBQ on Saturday.
