Rerwick Head Battery

After visiting the Italian Chapel we drove over to Rerwick Head, a WWII gun battery. The location is spectacular, but I imagine it was a pretty lonely posting.

This is one of the many gun emplacements looking out over Shapinsay. A timely reminder that Orkney played an important part in both World Wars.
