Heather Walk

What a fabulous morning! We set off from Goose Eye, near Laycock, Keighley, for the moors to enjoy the heather that is now in full bloom.

This circular walk is no 10 in the Bradford Millennium Way Circular walks booklet but at this time of year we refer to it as the ' heather walk' as the vistas on Keighley Moor like many of the others around here are wonderful with the purple colour of the heather.

This view is from Keighley Moor Reservoir as we descended down to Slitheroford (locally known as Slippery ford) and then on towards Laycock above the town of Keighley in the far distance.

We had to do a bit of fording, the stream at the bottom of Slitheroford farm's fields requires the use of rather haphazard stepping stones to cross which today were virtually under water due to the recent rain. Made for an interesting interlude!

The sun came through about half way round and made it feel as though summer was back and although it was 7.5 miles and I feel tired now I had a lovely time.

If you want to see more Heather see Wilsden Walker.
