This castle lies in the heart of 'Cathar' country. The Cathars' beliefs were not in line with mainstream RC doctrine, so Pope ill-named-Innocent III had the castle's residents tortured and burned alive for heresy. Beautiful architecture. Shame about the sadism.

Ah - and there are the Pyrenees in the distance. Wonderful backdrop!
