Harvest

The wheat is being harvested and I always find it very heartening seeing the crops coming in. I think of the permanence of harvest over the centuries for all the communities that have lived in this village and worked this land,. The most impressive local harvesters are the pea viners, huge machines that come through the village in convoys. The peas have to be cropped and taken for freezing and packing within hours.
