Purple vista

Our plan was for a gentle dog walk around Egton Bridge. However on approaching the steep hill at Saltersgate Bank the traffic was stationary. Unfortunately there had been an accident on the sharp bend.

We decided to turn around and opted for a walk down into the bowl of the Hole of Horcum. As we descended the Yorkshire Air Ambulance arrived finding the windy conditions and locating a safe landing place a challenge.

By the time we were returning to the car over an hour later the helicopter was just leaving the scene along with one of two road ambulances.

Enjoyed a steady plod through the heather which is at its purple best at the moment. Our thoughts very much with the victims of the accident.
