Style Sunday: Bodysurfing

The 38th annual World Bodysurfing Championships were held in Oceanside yesterday and today. As a competitive sporting event, I thought that would quality for the Sunday Style challenge. Pre-competition estimates were that three to four hundred bodysurfers from around the world would compete within age groups for trophies and prizes. My husband went for a few hours yesterday, and I went back with him today for the finals. The waves were amazing, and I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if the ocean had been flat for the competition. We had a great vantage point from the pier, next to the judges' canopy. There were some pretty impressive telephoto lenses up there, but I just plugged away. This photo really showed the form they use to slice through the water with such ease. What a ride, if you can catch these waves!
