Over the Horizon

Bed of thorns

Recounting the nights events with Seth over coffee. A wild visitor indeed.

Wildness all around us up here on the frontier of a vast wilderness.

Watch the clouds. Indecisive shadows and sunlight dapple. Changing whether looking down moodily over the morning.

Talking now about land ethics and sense of place. Hmmm.

I sketched a still life of the landscape in dark pencil and stipple. Drawing again.

Hike to the ridge across from Georgia O'Keefe in late afternoon with Seth.

Low light over grazing horses framed on the steep hillside. Dark clouds drifting in with the breeze.

Clutching fingers of burnt out puyas. A bed of craggy thorns in relief against ominous dark clouds.

Flushed an Andean snipe with Seth on walk back. Cryptic and camouflaged like ash behind burned tussock grasses. Pensive.

After dinner went to read--commotion above. Bonnie, Arthur, and Ryan catch glimpse of eyes and large cat shape low to ground slinking through grass.

Our visitor has returned....
