Edinburgh from up high
Today we were on the red eye up to Manchester and then on to Edinburgh for our long weekend in Scotland. Bags packed, Isla up and chirpy (in her jim jams) and we met Dad at the airport. Isla was an absolute star on the flight. SHe looked out the window, she played with all the inflight reading material, she had a snack and a snooze!
We picked up our hire car (a very sporty Audi A4 S line) and immediately abandoned that in a park and ride to take the tram into edinburgh centre. This new tram line cost shed loads and its a bit of a bone of contention with the locals, but we thought itwas great.
The Edinburgh festival was on so the whole city was just buzzing with peple, artists, singers, dancers, balloon animal makers, comedians, people dressed in very strange things, bagpipes, you name it, we saw it! it was just fantastic.
Paul and I walked up to the top of Scott Monument (Well Paul nearly made it, he got a wee bit of vertigo towards the top and had to come back doon). Amazing views from up there. Dad kindly looked after Isla down at the bottom.
We did a bit of shopping and bought Isla a kilt and a tammy hat :) so cute.
Got back to the hotel around 7ish, quick bite to eat and thenI took Isla off to bed while Paul and my dad stayed up to the wee hours in the hotel bar! alright for some eh!
