MV Caledonian Isles

Today's the day ...................... to go doon the watter

We took this beautiful boat today from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland across to Brodick on the Isle of Arran.

It takes just under an hour to get there because this boat doesn't hang about - in fact, she goes like the clappers. MV Caledonian Isles is one of the largest ships operated by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) - and this is one of its busiest routes. She can carry up to 1000 passengers and 110 cars - although today there were much fewer than that and we had plenty of room to explore.

The sun was shining and the sea was a sparkling blue as we sped along. I don't think I will ever lose that feeling of excitement as the dark outline of Arran gets closer and closer - and eventually Brodick Pier comes in to view ...................
