28 days to go
I started the day with a visit to the new Stratified Medicine Innovation Centre which is temporarily based at Inchinnan near Renfrew from where it will move to purpose built premises on the site of the new Glasgow South University Hospital next year.
I made a Parliamentary Statement about the Innovation Centres and their huge potential later in the day and in the evening met some of the chairs of the centres.
The enthusiasm and ambition of everyone working in Inchinnan was infectious and it was good to see some of the actual work underway. Dr Carolyn Lowe talked me through the sequencing of a human genome with the small chip she is holding, made by Thermo Fisher who are a major partner in the project , being key to the process.
