Brundibár

'Opening Night' for our Recovering Hidden Voices conference at NZSM. This children's opera, written by Hans Krása, was performed around 55 times in the Theresienstadt concentration camp during WWII. Krása was killed in 1944 at Auschwitz, but there are a few people who survived this particular camp, and NZSM has had the incredible privilege of being able to interview a woman who was at Terezín and saw Brundibár performed, which gave us precious insight and is something I'm sure the children in tonight's performance will treasure.
