Statue to the Scots Greys
I had a date with Orchid99 at lunch time today and luckily she recognised me from my exposure on Blipfoto, or we might have been destined to wander round the bedlam that was Waverley station on this last day of the Fringe.
We found a little table in the station to have a coffee and a sandwich before hitting the city, just in time for a downpour of biblical proportions with the rain bouncing off the road in a devilish dance while the buses created tsunamis as they went through small lochans at the gutters.
However, all things pass and the sun came out while we made our way through the hordes in Princes Street Gardens to find our blips for today.
All too soon it was a farewell at the station while Orchid99 travelled back to her hotel in West Lothian and I swam with the tide of humanity up the Mound and back to the house.
I can't remember ever having seen Edinburgh so completely congested with pedestrians and traffic.
Perhaps the visitors don't mind the constrained movement on the pavements, but for residents trying to get home, it is a nightmare of swerving and sidestepping tourists ambling along and suddenly stopping in their tracks.
But it was lovely to meet Orchid99 at last. Having subscribed to her for all those years, it was good to put a face to the name. Haste ye Back.
