Common Hawker
Had a fabulous day at Holme Fen, in spite of a few showers. I have never seen so many dragonflies in one location - which is good, because it made a 100 mile round trip worthwhile! Especially spectacular were the huge clouds of Common Darters rising up as we walked down the rides, but they defied my attempts at decent photography, as did the hobbys, little egrets, bank voles, great diving beetles, and all the other great species we saw. In the end though, this male Common Hawker wins the blip for the technical quality of the shot.
Enjoy.
