NOT FOR ITS APPLES
There's not a lot going for this old tree.
I must have pruned it a bit wrong because it has never been as leafy as this before.
The apples are a brilliantly bright red but (don't be deceived) they usually taste of cardboard.
It appears that cardboard suits earwigs because the apples are usually infested with them.
A few years back I would expect a black scabby problem but that does appear to be gone now.
But, the fundamental problem with this apple tree is that it blocks our view of Chesil, Portland and the sea.
Despite all this, it stays.
I just like its nonchalant lean.
