Bales

Bales, near Temple Balsall, Warwickshire

Took a wander this way on Saturday afternoon. Then the whole field was covered in bales and the next field lower down. I returned today after tea. I was concerned the bales may have been collected on Sunday given the atrocious forecast for Bank Holiday Monday, and as I approached spying through gaps in the hedge, all those near the roadside had vanished. Fortunately, those closer to the farmhouse remained.

I still haven't learnt my lesson about batteries. Three died on me again today. And another lesson I need to write down 100 times is to do a reckie on the day. With all the rain from yesterday, a couple of shallow pools had been born which might have been useful.

With battery power depleted, around 8:30 I continued further than I had gone on Saturday, to see what else might be on offer. Fields of potatoes and bunny rabbits, telegraph poles and planes flying in and out of Birmingham.
