Aberdovey To Tywyn Beach Walk
Today is the last day of my short break in Wales. I felt no need to rush off so I joined my friends on a 4-mile walk along the stunning beach between the pleasant town of Aberdovey (or Aberdyfi in Welsh) and Tywyn, the area where we were camping.
This view is looking south towards the town of Aberdovey, the start of our walk. We headed north to Tywyn and the beautiful beach became wider, flatter and even less populated. Granted, we weren't having the warmest of August weather and it was quite windy, but I suspect that even on a hot summer's day this stretch of beach would still be relatively quiet.
We walked slowly while the children played in the rock pools left by the low tide and we watched kite surfing and even kite-buggying! We stopped for a picnic lunch, sheltered against the sand dunes and tried to keep the sand out of our sandwiches.
Dolly normally loves the beach, but I don't think she liked the wind and the chill in the air and seemed to tire quickly. Thankfully I had not planned to do the whole walk and had parked my car near the place we had our picnic. After our lunch we said our goodbyes and headed back to the car to make our long journey home. Dolly fell asleep almost before I started up the engine.
I'm glad to say that I made it all the way home without any of the car maintenance issues I had on the way to Wales.
To see more of this beautiful beach, I highly recommend watching this video clip of the kite-buggying:
