A high achiever.
Everyone likes birds. What wild creature is more accessible to our eyes and ears, as close to us and everyone in the world, as universal as a bird?
David Attenborough. British naturalist and broadcaster.
A young herring gull. Only a few weeks old it is a master of the air, skimming effortlessly inches above the water. Already independent of its parents, it can survive on eating almost anything, from dead dogs to old margarine wrappers. Next summer it will celebrate its first birthday by creating yet more of its kind. How much more we humans could achieve in our allotted three score years and ten if we were to get off to such a flying start!
