Spellow Library, Liverpool

A community library, refurbished in 2006 and reopened in 2007. Like all the libraries that I have visited, it is much more than a place to borrow books. There is a job-club, a rhyme time, a book-read session, a pack up smoking class, computers in constant use, a children's area etc. I met a woman who works at a local nursery and she told me that they are always bringing groups of children here because it is such safe place and so well equipped with reading resources.

The sign on the side wall reads: Community Library. Now Open After Refurbishment. It needs amending. Now threatened with closure. 7/11.
