day 1
off on an adventure. we'll see where this leads.
what do you do with a collection of 1001* vintage mother of pearl buttons when you're trying to reduce your clutter? recycle? at 7:20 am (low tide) i took my collection of buttons down to the ocean and deposited them in a carefully selected tide pool. my overall concept was to take natural objects (shells) that had been manipulated by man into buttons and return them to the sea to dissolve and be reabsorbed into new shells. a way to reuse, to complete the cycle.
i am going to document the buttons return to the sea over the next five days. at low tide every morning, i will go down to the tide pool and photograph the buttons. today i watched a couple crabs settle in. you can find them if you look a bit. i don't know where this is going. perhaps my first documentary? smile.
