Day 11. The Perfect Day
I am so lucky and so privileged.
Our day started with a nice long walk to a coffee shop. I was very good and didn't get cake to go with my coffee as I'm putting on the pounds in a very short space of time. We met a really lovely lady who wanted to tell us about her time in the UK. Everyone is so friendly here. We then walked back to our hotel had an hour by the pool then got ready to meet Gary at his shop.
Gary keeps his boat in the yard where his shop is. We also met up with Mitch who is Gary's cousin and we have met before. The boat was put on the back of the truck and off we all went to Duck Creek to enter the Yellowstone River.
I don't know how they do it but they got the boat into the river, we climbed in, and off we went.
It was great fun being at the the front of the boat as it was really speedy which cooled our bodies down as it was incredibly hot yet again today. We saw two baby deer and lots of Osprey before we found a spot to swim in.
We tied the boat up and in we went for a swim. The men eventually got out for beer and I stayed standing in the river next to the boat. All of a sudden Mitch said look over there it's bears. As I turned around I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A mum and her three babies had started to swim towards us. She soon realised we were there and did an about turn and led them back. I grabbed my camera and took what I could with the little time I had. I'm really happy with my shots of the bears. I still think I dreamt seeing them.
After a while we took off to find another spot to swim in and once again we were speeding down the river. We came across some wild horses cooling off under a waterfall so slowed down to take a few shots.
We then found our new spot to swim in.
As we looked up into the trees we could see a bald headed eagle. Once again I got snap happy.
Then it was time to go as we were all off to see a street band which takes place every Thursday evening between 5.00 and 9.00. It's called Five Alive.
We wasn't sure what to expect but it was popular because it was packed. We grabbed some drinks and headed off towards the stage. It was such a good atmosphere with everyone dancing. I was fascinated to see cowboys dancing along side an Indian. A good time was had by all.
But our evening didn't finish there as we went to another bar for a few more drinks and a bite to eat.
We really couldn't have asked for a more perfect day....it was awesome.
