August challenge; shapes and shadows
Whenever I see this I think of Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas (minus one eye). A horn sings out;
Da Daaa Da/ Da Daaa Da
letting the village know that the boys are back in town, having done a bit of what film critics in 1958, rather euphemistically called ‘ravishing’ and pillaging.
It’s meant to be a Viking longship, or rather, the remains of one. Made of metal, it’s simple and effective and represents what archeologists saw when they first excavated this particular vessel.
I can’t remember where or when I bought it. Not as long ago as 1958 that’s for sure.
The film, by the way, was The Vikings.
