The chase

Today we had another incredible safari experience, seeing an incredible amount of animals and savouring every single second. I also took some wonderful, sharp photos of the animals which I am very proud of and so many of them could have been the blip for the day. However, that honour goes to the most special moment of the day. When we went hunting with lions.

We were admiring the lioness's when Kim, our guide, pulled our attention towards the way 3 of them were grouping themselves. He told us to watch the one on the left and sure enough, she slunk down low and started to get into a low position, slinking away from the others. They had spotted something and were going for the kill. The one on our right, moved around the back of some bushes and we were waited. Tension built on the truck, we were anticipating something quick and ruthless. We got something quick indeed.

Pumbaa raced out of the bush, the lioness who had got down low chased, the other having lured the warthog into the perfect position for her. Or so she had thought. Pumbaa was so quick! He raced away and sped to safety! Our heart rate dropped, the exhilaration ebbing away.

Kim had other ideas though, he went off road, into the bush. He mowed down trees, getting all of us ducking in the open top jeep and making Justice, our spotter, become more tree than man at one point. We went deep into the bush and found the lioness's again. They had no prize but were regrouping and we got to see them again up close. They were special, as was this experience.
