Charge!
Today's experience was again sensational. But pick of the day was the Rhino's again - but for a different reason this time. Today we got to see the Rhino's brute anger and instincts. They were pretty damn impressive.
First we met Mummy Rhino. Mummy Rhino had a youngster with her (not as young as a Rhino we got to see the day before but pretty young) and she was also pregnant. Mummy Rhino did not trust us one bit. She glared at us every time we moved so we edged up the road. She even threatened to charge us at one point, which meant we had to sit still for a few minutes until we was sure that she controlled us. It was wonderful to witness the maternal instincts of her and I can quite safely say I would not want to meet a Mummy Rhino down a dark alley.
When we (eventually) moved past her we moved across to view some of the other members of this crash of Rhino's. There was an adult male Rhino there who Kim recognised as being a bit of an angry fella. He was careful with our progress down the road, just in case.
This whole time Mummy Rhino glared at us from a couple of hundred yards away.
Daddy Rhino (so we guessed) was making his way past and was seemingly safely the right side of some bushes and a tree. The engine came on, we were moving on. As soon as we moved an inch, he came for us. Between the little, leafless tree and a more solid one he charged. Kim was off immediately, knowing this could have been coming, off road and behind a pylon next to us. Daddy Rhino flew across the road with an acceleration not fitting with his bulky shape and only pulled up when he realised there was a big metal thing between us. I honestly think if there hadn't been anything to hide behind then he would have knocked us over. The blip is of the moment he first set off.
