2014 more running needed

Amazing day

What a truly amazing day/evening.

A dear friend of our village, affectionately called by many "Mr Freckleton", had an idea.....

His idea was to mark 50 years of our Club Day (2013) and half marathon (2014), 70 years since the air disaster that I wrote about last Saturday, and 175 years of the Church of England School.

It should be a Last Night of The Proms style event on the playing field.

The Band would play and we would have a right good knees up!

But there was a problem. He sadly passed away 2 years ago today.

It was his wish this took place so his daughters and a small committee made an amazing night happen.

The Freckleton Band did indeed play, along with a fantastic duo, and Freckleton Youth Band.

In the second half we had the full Last Night treatment from the Band with the traditional Collection of Sea Songs, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. And of course a magnificent Soprano singer, Nicola Howard, to lead us.

Union flags were issued at the gate to ensure plenty of flag waving too.

Being outdoors we were able to have something they can't have in The Royal Albert Hall: fireworks during the encore of Land of hope and Glory.

We are so lucky in Freckleton to have a top class brass band.

We are lucky to have a wonderfully talented and dedicated Club Day Sports Committee who pull together to make great things happen. .

And we are blessed with the luck that "Mr Freckleton" had this amazing idea.
