Textures In Trees
A visit to Nymans today and this view was taken from the north side of the gardens looking across to the next ridge. Nymans is in the area of the South East known as the High Weald. This is made up of Tunbridge Wells Sandstone and other divisions of Cretaceous rocks. The geology gives rise to deep valleys with streams known as gills and a landscape of large areas of woodland with small fields that have been created since Saxon times from the cutting down of the trees. There are a number of ridges and this one is north of Nymans and has a road running along the top with another garden, The High Beeches off to the left of the picture. There is a wide range of different trees which give a range of colours, tints and textures and the regimented rows of firs on the right are very prominent.
