Bohuntin Hill

It was a successful day for recovering lost tennis balls. We returned to Glen Shero today (all the way round by road) for a walk and a wee picnic. I spotted yesterday’s missing ball right beside the old bridge, the very outer most point of the walk.
Glen Shero was really beautiful again. We stopped at the old Wades Bridge at Garva and enjoyed the early autumn sunshine. Although the River Spey is already substantial it is only a few miles from its source; Loch Spey. It gets big very quickly. The landscape is dominated by that classic glacial and fluvial features so common in the upper reaches of Glen Roy and Glen Turret. It is hardly surprising as you could walk to the head of Glen Roy from here in maybe 4 or 5 hours. (I’ll add that to the list).

Upon returning home Caley and I had a quick walk up Bohuntin Hill. I didn’t take a tripod, heavy SLR or a rucksack; just the compact in my jacket pocket. What a difference that makes to progress. I was at the top about 6 minutes earlier than if laden as just described. Also, on the ascent we found the ball lost on our last outing here.
Note to self:
Caley can get extremely dirty up here, right “clarty” from jumping in muddy peaty bottomed lochans. I have identified one pond which is different from the rest. Even after a Labrador plunging in and stirring up the water it remains perfectly clear and a squeaky clean yellow dog emerges.
