Berlin Wall
Had a yummy breakfast! :)
Took the underground (U-Bahn) to the Berlin wall (It was much less crowded than in London!!).
It was amazing seeing the remains of the wall. The government gave permission to some artists to decorate sections of the wall. But it was so annoying to see people had graffited over the paintings!! It's so disrespectful, considering the suffering of the east Germans, that people would graffiti over it!!
Sam had a Schnitzel for lunch!
Made me burst into song:
"Cream coloured ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favourite things"
Next we went to the Reichstag. We didn't go inside because there was a very big queue to get into it. It was a very large and beautiful building! :)
Afterwards we walked to the Brandburg gate. Also very big and beautiful!
Then we walked to the 'Memorial of the Murdered Jews of Europe', it was an interesting monument! It was much larger than I was expecting!
Went back to our hotel, which was by Checkpoint Charlie! So had a photo there and brought a traditional Bruckwurst hotdog! :)
Also found a really cool machine which took a photo of you, then printed out a postcard with that photo on! So I send one to my friends! :)
Hectic, but fun day! :)
Hypothetical situation of the day (sorry, its slightly creepy):
You're in an underground tube and you are the only one who get off at a station. The train whizzes off and you realise the doors are blocked and you can't get out. Suddenly all the lights turn off except one solitary light in the middle which is swinging from side to side. About a minute later a train pulls up to the abandoned station, but no one is on it. What would you do??
The License plate of the car is the date the Berlin wall came down!
