Pergamon

Woke up early, only to found the boys were still fast asleep (Dad and Sam were in a separate (snoring) room because in previously years they have kept Mum and I wake with their loud snoring!)

Arrived at the Pergamon museum much later than planned. So there was a very large queue to get into the museum (we were told approx. three hours wait). I wrote my postcards on Dad's back and read the majority of the 'Mysterious affair at Styles' (Poirot) while waiting in the queue. Thankfully it only took two hours to get in! :)
The museum was very good, as you entered you received the headphones things to tell you about the items on display!

It was unexpectedly good! :)

The first thing I saw was the Ishtar Gate, which was so cool! It was so big and unbelievable that it was in Ancient Babylon (Daniel (in the Bible) would have probably seen it!).

Then I saw the Market Gate of Miletus which was very pretty and big as well! It was soo cool to see what the gate would have looked like in real life!

The next exciting thing was the Pergamon Altar!! They had rebuilt it, like how it would have been in real life!! Also it had a frieze of the battle between the olympian gods and the giants around the sides of the altar!

"“And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write,
‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. " Revelation 2:12-13
This passage in the bible is to the church in Pergamon. So the Altar I visited was where Antipas was martyred!

Then we wondered around the rest of the museum which was quite boring compared to the first part!

Later we used the trams in the city, which my Mum loved! :)

I can't remember what else we did!

I'm sitting around middle left with my Mum and Sam!
Also the museum is about to be repaired for about 5 years! So if you want to see it, you need to go quick! Which was probably why the queue was so long!
