From the dark corner.....

A chattering of starlings!

A good collective noun for starlings would be a mess! I was just wondering where the birds were when I took a mid morning break and suddenly a great load of them dropped out of the sky. I had to wait until things had calmed down a bit as all I could see was a big blur of wings.

Go large...

Out of 'chattering', 'affliction' or 'murmuration', I reckon 'chattering' is the best one although there was more squabbling than anything else.

I'd run out to chase off a black cat earlier. It just blinked at me and stood his ground. I blinked back and advanced towards him with my water pistol raised. I stupidly had forgotten to fill it up and frustrated with myself, I hurled it. It worked anyway! My aim is appalling so it clattered off the apple tree 5 miles to the left of the furry fiend - slight exaggeration - and the noise made the cat saunter off through a gap in the hedge after giving me a disdainful look. Oh well...

It was a really busy day as expected but nowhere as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'd started at 6am which was slightly earlier than usual and managed to break the back of a new report as well as terminating 39 people - great fun and wonderful therapy! - and setting up a load of others. With the new school term starting officially tomorrow, there was a lot of moving about. I was quite satisfied when I logged off.

By the way, what's the best way to change a duvet cover? Nightmare! By the time I have walked round the bed several times and virtually climbed into the cover myself to get the corners in the right place, I just feel like getting into bed! It should be an Olympic sport, even though I probably wouldn't get a gold medal.

Track? Here's one I've not heard for ages - Beds Are Burning
