Totems, or something...
These two striking figures are human-sized, carved wood sculptures outside an artsy shop in Haliburton - the heart of Ontario's cottage country. It's Labour Day and the place is deserted - despite things being open for the end of the tourist season. We had a dip in Lake Kashagawigamog, per usual. Then we drove to Dorset to poke around Robinson's General Store (1921) then supper by the lakeside at the Trading Bay Dining Company restaurant by the narrows. We've been there many times before under various restaurant incarnations. I had a pint of local beer: Rock Cut Baysville Lager by Lake of Bays Brewing Company. It was cold and quite nice. For dinner I had cedar-planked trout with a leek & dill pesto and lemon with grilled veggies and roasted potatoes. It was very good. I haven't had trout in years. Linda had chicken fingers and a Steamwhistle beer (from Toronto). Good times.
Look closely at the blue guy. He has a large dragonfly on a tooth!
