Ugly
I was sorting through a pile of mail that had been here for several days when I discovered the envelope from the IRS. An envelope from them is almost never good news and this one was not.
Well, I made a stupid mistake when doing our taxes at the end of 2012. Mr. Fun had begun receiving his monthly Social Security and our tax preparer did not ask me about that and I did not know to report it. Sheeeeeeesh! So it's time to pay-up.
When Social Security was originally started FDR said it would never be taxed. Then in 1985 the government realized that FDR was dead and what they heck, it was time to tax it. So up to 85% of a person's Social Security money can be taxed. What a bummer! So I am embarrassingly confessing my mistake and plan to never do that again. Stating it here will be a good reminder of my stupid mistake and when this was all happening because, gosh, it sure is something that I want to remember (not)!
Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
