Farewell to Peebles
Our last day in this attractive Scottish Borders town. Several good walks enjoyed and climbs achieved. A funeral of an old friend in Edinburgh but the old friend we went to see in Peebles and who is 95, still does not have to wear glasses. What genes!
On our way home on the A708 to Moffat we stopped at the National Trust for Scotland Grey Mare's Tail Nature Reserve and did the 800 foot climb up the steep footpath which has in effect been made into a stone staircase. The reward is good views of the waterfall with the fifth highest drop in Britain. It was satisfying in our old age to get further than a number of middle aged climbers who gave up half way.
Peebles is lovely and we shall be back again even if we have to have passports.
