It's mine!!!

"No, it's mine!!!!!" squawked the seagulls as they fought over this precious fish...

A misty start to the day as I set off down to Dorset, keeping my Mum company for the day's outing to her school reunion. First stop was Montacute House, a beautiful Elizabethan house that has a lovely courtyard café, and delicious Chocolate Brownies! As we crossed the county border from Somerset into Dorset, the clouds started to part, and by the time we arrived at West Bay on the coast, the sun was out in all its glory!

Whilst waiting by the harbour for our freshly cooked fish and chips, I heard a loud PLOP just beside me and looked down to see this fish lying on the floor, swiftly followed by the seagull who must have been flying overhead and dropped it! That was a close shave!! Two seconds later a whole host of seagulls arrived and an almighty battle began over this fish. The final victor was this youngster.

After lunch we headed back inland to Beaminster for a special ceremony organised for the unveiling of a blue heritage plaque, marking where the old grammar school used to stand. There was a host of dignitaries and around 80 former pupils from the school, ranging in age from 60 to 91, and after all the speeches, a good old bun fight was laid on at the village hall, with drinks and more goodies to enjoy in the sunshine on the verandah.

All in all, a lovely day out in sunny Dorset, and a day that made me feel rather young! And that doesn't happen very often these days!!
