I didn't see the latest TV debate on the referendum, but I've heard reports.
It seems the local leader of the Conservatives made some odd claims about Trident being needed so the UK can "walk tall" and so we can nuke Russia if Putin pushes his luck.
Well, having lived through the Cuban missile crisis, having studied international relations to honours degree level (including all the nuts and bolts of mutually assured destruction - MAD) and then helped pick up the pieces after the Iron Curtain fell apart, I don't have much time for Ruth Davidson's naivety.
Or could she be smarter than that and just thought a couple of lies would scare the voters?
Anyway, the sight of a "warship" at anchor off Kirkcaldy this afternoon did make me wonder if she had a point.
Or was it our friends down south worrying about our security in light of the latest terror threat they've dreamed up?
Then I remembered the Russian Navy turning up in the Moray Firth recently, and it took the UK navy at least 24 hours to find a boat to respond with, and then have it steam north at full pelt to save us.
A little research put my mind at rest. The ship is the Minna. A fishery protection vessel.
