Weber's, an Ontario landmark since 1963
Linda and I have passed this a hundred times. We never stop in because the line-ups are ridiculously long - as in hundreds of people long. Today being a Wednesday two days after Labour Day, there was hardly anyone at Weber's famous burger stop north of Orillia on the way to (or from) cottage country. We were heading home and decided today was the day. We walked across the pedestrian bridge over Highway 11 (a former piece of the skybridge to the CN Tower in Toronto), ordered up, and ate in the dining car. This one here was converted into a very nice washroom. The other very similar car is a dining car. It was air-conditioned and empty so we enjoyed it all to ourselves. We had a burger and fries. Neato!
The dining car is a 1949 Budd Company car made in Philadelphia. The washroom is a 1949 Pullman Car made in Chicago. They also have a yellow 1903 Canadian National Railways (CNR) 1903 caboose made in Montreal by the Grand Trunk Railway Company and several box cars. The box cars and caboose are used by the burger shop as part of the kitchen and storage facilities.
