Rust and copper tarnish

This old wharf pile was once sheathed in copper. The sheet of copper was attached by hand made copper nails ( which shows age of the pile), with the aim of preventing attack by marine worms. Nowadays they use incredibly toxic chemicals.

I have upped the contrast slightly as I like the effect. The copper tarnishes bluey green. And there is rust also of course.
