Coercion?

Today is a day to really celebrate the wonderful sport of distance running.

This lady sported these words on the back of her shirt but I am comfortable it is a tongue on cheek thought.

I have had the pleasure of commentating at The Wigan 10k road race today.

In only its second year it is already attracting 3000+ athletes of all abilities.

Meanwhile in The North East there was another race going on.

And what a race tbe Great North Run has become.

Today saw the one millionth finisher cross the line in South Shields.

Let's get some context here.
It was New York that inspired London to stage a marathon.

Newcastle was inspired by London.

No other big city event has seen as many finishers as The Great North Run.

We salute and congratulate every one of them.
