Photos with clouds
A very enjoyable day in the Black Hills of Dakota. The highlight was a visit to the Crazy Horse Mountain, an immense sculpture of a Oglala Lakota chief, which was begun by Korczak Ziolkowski in 1948 and which still has about 50 years work to do. Here is a closer shot and this is how it will look when finished.
Not far away is an even more famous (but smaller) classic American sight - Mount Rushmore.
After the immense sculptures, we drove around the Custer State Park, where the "Wildlife Loop" was largely free of obvious wildlife, perhaps because the temperature reached 90F. Then, we came across this Pronghorn, a type of antelope, said to be North America's fastest land animal, capable of speeds of 60 mph. This one kindly stood perfectly still.
Of late, I have been banging-on about how, although clear blue skies are pleasant, for photography a few clouds add interest. I therefore wonder whether, in the land of the Sioux, I might be referred-to as "Photos With Clouds."
