Pingvellir

Day 2 Iceland

Breakfast in the hotel then picked up the car. I had booked a small Suzuki Jeep thing, but they decided to give me a free upgrade to a new, all singing all dancing Ford Kuga.

We were going to go to the Blue Lagoon but decided to go for a drive round the Golden Circle.

First stop was Pingvellir, the site if the original parliament and the place where the American and Eurasian continental plates are moving apart at 2 cm a year. We walked down the gap between them.

It was a very wet day not just rain, but spray from waterfalls and steam from geysers. My camera didn't like it at all.

This shot is the waterfall at Pingvellir, but we also visited:

The geysers at Geysir; and

The spectacular waterfall at Gullfoss.
