Great North Run

Although it's 300 miles away, their mum has been doing this run for more than 10 years. We drop her at Newcastle, for the run then drive almost the whole course to watch her pass at 12 miles. The drive is fascinating, seeing just a tiny part of the logistics needed to feed and water 50 thousand runners.
Once parked, we have plenty of time so a trip down on to the beach is tempting especially when the weather is this good.
It was just after 8am and the tide was out offering access to Marsden Rock with its caves and rock pools.
We then amble to the pub for a coffee, before watching the leaders run by; then mum.
