High tide at the Cobb

Its been a lovely evening here tonight, good enough to warrant a visit to Lyme Regis and a wander along the sea front and around the Cobb where the tide was nearly to the top of the harbor wall.

This sleek craft is one of the local racing gig's. There are designed after the pilot boats who used to race each other out to an incoming ship in order to get the job of bringing it into harbor. There are Gig Racing clubs all over the country now and I believe that this one (and others) were built the local boat building school, here on the Cobb
