Rosa in her Dorm Room
Our friend Rosa is just starting her second (sophomore) year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She invited us to dinner tonight, at her preferred dining hall or commons. It is spectacular, large and generously spaced, with a circular array of mainly self-serve counters in the center and smaller ones nearby. The many tables are all around the outside. And the quality!! The focus is on natural and locally grown foods; virtually everything was tempting. If I read a display correctly, this very facility just won a national award for quality in college dining.
After our delicious meal, we retired to Rosa's dormitory room nearby for a long session of chewing the fat (to resurrent an expression from my youth). the furnishings are simple but entirely adequate.
Here's my most recent blip of Rosa and her mother Anne (whom Marylee met in Paris in 1991), with a further link giving more of their story.
