Fisherman
Found this optimistic fisherman by the side of the River Ouse in York. Not the best place in the world to catch fish, I wouldn't have thought, right in the middle of the city centre!
The bridge is the Skeldergate bridge, originally a toll bridge it was designed by Thomas Page and built in the 1870s. The small arch to the right where one of the toll booths is situated was originally a lifting bridge to enable tall ships to access quays on either side of the river.
The toll booths are now cafes and the quays and warehouses are really expensive city centre apartments.!
